Distribution of the troglophile spider Metellina merianae (Scopoli, 1763) (Araneae: Tetragnathidae) in Europe, based on 238 occurrences. Metellina merianae is a common inhabitant of the twilight zone of caves, although it possesses rather poor adaptations to the subterrranean conditions (Hesselberg and Simonsen 2019).
