SPNHC 2026: Global Natural History Collections Community to Gather in South Africa

The 41st Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections Annual Meeting (SPNHC 2026) will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from 7 to 11 September 2026. Hosted by Iziko Museums of South Africa at the Iziko South African Museum, this event will mark the first time the annual conference will be held on the African continent.

Centred on the theme “Bridging Hemispheres: Collaborating for a Unified Natural Heritage”, SPNHC 2026 will bring together natural history collections professionals from around the world. Delegates can expect a rich, week-long programme featuring field trips, plenary sessions, symposia, workshops, and social events designed to enhance international collaboration and collection stewardship.
