Dr. Andrés E. Ortiz-Rodriguez is a researcher at the Institute of Biology of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico, UNAM).

He joins the Editorial board of Biodiversity Data Journal as a Subject editor for the taxonomy and phylogeny of Neotropical members of the flowering plants belonging to Laurales and Magnoliidae.

Currently, at UNAM, Andrés studies the systematics of the Annonaceae family, with an emphasis on the taxonomy of the Sapranthinae tribe.

"I am really excited to be part of the Biodiversity Data Journal editorial team. The journal offers a space for the dissemination of taxonomy (the study of biodiversity), an activity that urgently needs to be strengthened, propagated and renewed throughout the world,” says Andrés.
