Soil biodiversity data papers enjoy free publication until 10 November

04 October 2023

The deadline to submit papers that describe soil biodiversity datasets to the GBIF-led topical article collection, aptly named Soil Biodiversity, in the Biodiversity Data Journal (BDJ) has been extended to 10 November 2023.

Thanks to the support of the Finnish Biodiversity Information Facility (FinBIF), researchers whose data cover the eligibility criteria can still take advantage of free publication (normally €650) in a peer-reviewed open-access scientific journal indexed at all major academic databases, including Scopus, Web of Science and DOAJ.

When they go for the Data Paper format at BDJ, researchers get to add narrative and describe their datasets, so that they provide meaningful context to their work.

Once submitted to the journal and prior to peer review, datasets are manually audited by a professional data expert, in order to assure the quality, reusability and citability of the data in the long run.

With the help of the ARPHA Writing Tool (AWT) integrated within the journal, authors also enjoy easier authoring and submission. The entirely online environment lets all co-authors - and additional collaborators (e.g. proofreaders, copy editors and advisers) - work collaboratively on the manuscript. A favourite feature available from the AWT is also the direct data import from GBIF.

You can find the full description of the call for papers on the GBIF website.
